About LarixGames

A small studio with big questions about play.

LarixGames is an independent game studio interested in educational games, systems, logic and the satisfying moment when something finally makes sense.

Why this direction

What if learning helped you play better?

Many educational games place lessons beside the play: answer a question, receive points, continue. We’re more interested in what happens when the subject shapes the mechanic itself.

That could mean understanding multiplication to manipulate a system, reading words because they matter to a quest, or discovering an ecosystem by changing it and watching what happens.

Where we are

Early, curious and honest about it.

LarixGames is still evolving. We prototype, test and learn. Not every experiment will become a commercial release, and that is part of the process.

The aim is to keep improving our sense of what makes a game enjoyable—and what players might understand by mastering it.

Working principles

A direction, not a formula.

Different games will ask for different answers. These are the questions we try to keep close while designing.

01
Does it work as a game?

Curiosity, feedback, challenge and agency matter before an educational label does.

02
What does mastery teach?

We look for the understanding that naturally grows when a player becomes better at the mechanic.

03
Can players discover it?

Experimentation and meaningful consequences can explain ideas more powerfully than interruption.

04
What did the prototype teach us?

An experiment can be valuable even when its best lesson belongs in the next game.

Follow the process

The work continues in public.

The journal is where we share development notes, design questions and lessons from experiments.
